All good things must come to an end, and my Chiropractic treatment was one good thing I did not want to end.  I had so much hope invested in Dr. Gray he had filled me with so many expectations and dreams, of my future straight back, and it was all crashing down and possibly coming to an end. The six months that was covered under the car insurance policy had passed, and I felt as though my future straight back was slipping out of my hands. I was doomed to be curvy forever.

We did not have health insurance and Chiropractic treatment was very expensive. So the time came where we had to make an appointment to talk to Dr. Gray, about the possibility for payment arrangements for my continued treatment. The day of the appointment, we sat in the waiting room and I watched Toy Story, I think it was the only movie they owned because it was always playing. A few minutes after we arrived, Dr. Gray called my mama and I back into his office.

Ironically, Dr. Gray, had a gray painted office, it was filled with so many things. He had his battle wound helmet laid on top of his desk near his computer and the walls were adored with pictures of him and his comrades during his time in Vietnam, and of all the many certificates and awards he had received. We sat at his moghany wooden desk. It was an antique, with detailed carvings on the legs, and it looked as if it used to be in a lawyers office.  I looked around and thought about all the possible outcomes of this appointment, while Dr. gray paced left and right in front of me. He explained in detail the treatment he had done, and he went through the details of the insurance policy, and I just sat there nervously. A million thoughts ran through my mind.  Would I be able to convince him to allow me to continue my treatment? After providing my mama with a translation of what Dr. Gray had said, I translated to him mama’s reply, and I reasoned with him as best as a nine year old could. By the end of appointment, we managed to receive a lower rate for my treatment. For as long as it would take, I would have an appointment with Tracy once a week, and twice a month I would also receive Chiropractic adjustments with Dr. Gray. I remember being so happy after we left Dr. Gray’s office. My dreams of a straight back, were still a possibility, and I was in sheer bliss.
